The leaders of commercial nuclear reactors established the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) in 1989 to collaborate to achieve excellence in nuclear energy , setting aside their rivalries and regional differences.

WANO has 127 members with the mission to maximize the safety and reliability of nuclear power plants worldwide by working together to assess, benchmark and improve performance through mutual support, exchange of information, and emulation of best practices. WANO supports members to communicate and the exchange knowledge and information through its four primary services:

• The Peer Review enables members to benchmark themselves in line with nuclear industry standards.
• The Performance Analysis collects and analyzes business experience and performance data to provide members with lessons learned and industry performance forecast reports.
• The Member Support enables members to collaborate with members to enhance safety and reliability in different areas. 
• The Industry Learning and Development provides assistance to members through workshops, seminars, training and leadership courses.

WANO has offices in London and Shanghai and regional centers in Atlanta, Moscow, Paris and Tokyo. TÜNAŞ became a member of WANO in 2020. Our company places significant emphasis on this membership and substantially benefits from sharing of information and experience through continual engagement with these 127-member global organization. Our membership contributes to the activities of our company through the support missions that WANO provides to its members. These support missions encompass various areas, including the development of a strong safety culture, peer reviews of products, and operational readiness of nuclear power plants. Our membership facilitates integration into WANO's global information network and active participation in knowledge exchange. Furthermore, TÜNAŞ actively contributes to the development of a safe and reliable nuclear industry by taking an active role in the working groups conducted by WANO.
